  20.     Just thought I'd let you guys (hey! Warez' da broads?!) know about
  21.     my PVR experiences:

  23.     1) The "I've lost my CMOS, and can't get up!" problem disappeared once
  24.     I realized that a couple of pins sticking out of the PVR, they look
  25.     like LED connectors for a hard drive, were physically (versus 
  26.     emotionally) touching my lithium system battery.
  27.  
  28.     I wrapped some scotch tape around the battery, and bent the pins 
  29.     slightly (belt AND suspenders) and after a couple of days the battery
  30.     recharged itself and now the computer doesn't have to be totally reset
  31.     up whenever I power down.  Yay!

  34.     2)  Went to the local post facility the other day to lay off some 
  35.     animation-- the breakout cable for the PVR was not passing Y-B.  Tests
  36.     revealed bad cable. <sigh>
  37.  
  38.     Note that the input cable seems to be identical in pinout to the output
  39.     cable, so you can swap 'em AFAIK.
  40.  
  41.     DPS requested that I return the bad cable when they send me the good, 
  42.     so this MAY be a common problem.

  45.     3)  Got a recall notice from DPS concerning a possible bug in their
  46.     board--certain serial numbers can be returned on their nickle.  Check
  47.     your mail, and send in those registration cards!
  48.  
  49.     4)  The second system I bought from ZEOS did NOT, contrary to the 
  50.     protestations of the sales-droid, have full length PCI slots-- indeed,
  51.     it may be quite a trick to find such a motherboard.  Some of their
  52.     older MBs have FLPCISlots, but 
  53.  
  54.             CAVEAT EMPTOR!

  56.     Best thing is to actually get a look at it before purchasing!
